Lip FAQs

Please reach us at ohiocitybeautystudio@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Lip blushing is a form of semi-permanent makeup. Essentially, it is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips that enhances the beauty of the natural lip color, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and the illusion of fullness. This treatment delivers very natural results, once healed. Filler may be great for creating volume in your lips, but lip blush delivers a more natural look and gives the illusion of fuller lips.

Lip blushing gives lips a gorgeous, barely-there flush without the lifetime commitment of a traditional tattoo. The perks of lip blushing include:

-Long-lasting lip color

-Increased pigmentation for pale and aging lips

-The ability to customize your lip shade

-Fuller-looking lips without need for injectables or surgery

-Enhanced lip symmetry

-Color correction for scars and uneven pigmentation

Some people may experience slight discomfort during the procedure, but it is generally considered to be less painful than traditional tattooing. Plus we use topical anesthetics to make the procedure as painless as possible.

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are risks associated with permanent lip makeup, including infection, allergic reactions to the pigment, and uneven coloration. It's important to research and choose a reputable, licensed tattoo artist to minimize these risks.

The procedure typically takes 1-2 hours.

Intensified color and swelling are part of the initial stages of healing. Be patient. Do not freak out!

The intensity should regress within 3-4 days. The sensation can be comparable to that of a slight burn and minimal scabbing and/or flaking may take place.

The effect typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on factors such as your skin type and the color of the pigment used.

Faux freckles, also known as freckle tattoos or semi-permanent freckles, are small, pigment-based marks placed on the skin using cosmetic tattooing techniques. This fun and youthful look mimics natural sun-kissed freckles and is fully customizable—from soft and scattered to bold and playful.

Enhances your natural beauty with a fresh, sun-kissed glow
• Saves time—no need to draw freckles on daily
• Fully customizable placement, density, and tone
• Boosts confidence with a cute and trendy look
• Pairs beautifully with minimal makeup styles

Most clients report minimal discomfort—similar to a light scratching or pinching sensation. We use a topical numbing agent to keep you comfortable throughout the session.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and chemical peels 7 days before your appointment
• Skip alcohol, caffeine, and blood thinners (like aspirin or ibuprofen) 24 hours before
• Come with clean skin—no makeup, lotions, or oils
• Let us know if you’re on any medications or have skin sensitivities
• If you’re prone to cold sores and want freckles near your lips, talk to your doctor about antiviral meds

Your PMU artist will begin assessing the skin and sketching out the design, getting your approval. A first pass then doing a number of passes over the freckles with a rotary machine. After the first layer is finished, the artist applies a numbing gel before going back for a second layer (keep in mind for the final result you may need to do this over two appointments). At the end of the process, your artist will likely add more random or smaller dots to tie everything together.

Your appointment will last about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the design and number of freckles you want. This includes time for consultation, mapping, numbing, and the actual procedure.

Intensified color and swelling are part of the initial stages of healing. Be patient. Do not freak out!The intensity should regress within 3-4 days. The sensation can be comparable to that of a slight burn and minimal scabbing and/or flaking may take place.

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are small risks including:
• Redness, slight swelling, or sensitivity
• Possible scabbing during healing
• Pigment fading unevenly if aftercare is not followed
• Rare risk of allergic reaction or infection if proper hygiene isn’t followed

We use sterile tools, high-quality pigments, and strict safety protocols to minimize any risks.

Results typically last 6 months to 2 years, depending on:
• Skin type
• Sun exposure
• Skincare routine
• Lifestyle factors

Touch-ups can be scheduled to maintain the look as it fades naturally.

Yes! Faux freckles fade over time, but if you’re unhappy with the result, removal options include:
• Saline lightening treatments
• Laser removal (depending on pigment and skin tone)
• Natural fading over time

We always start with a thorough consultation to ensure you’re confident in your desired look.

Avoid wearing makeup over the treated area for at least 7 days during the healing process. After healing, you can wear makeup as usual, but gentle application and removal are key to maintaining your freckles.

• Keep the area clean and dry for the first 24 hours
• Avoid sun exposure, tanning, saunas, and heavy sweating for 7–10 days
• Gently cleanse with mild soap and pat dry—no rubbing
• Do not pick at any scabs or flaking skin
• Avoid skincare products with acids or retinoids near the area
• Apply the recommended healing ointment (if advised by your artist)

ALL PROCEDURES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

Unless a note from your doctor declares you completely unable to receive the procedure.
